Mount St Johns Medical Centre

Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, formerly known as Mount St. John's Medical Centre, is the primary public hospital and leading healthcare provider in Antigua and Barbuda. Located in the heart of St. John's on Queen Elizabeth Highway, it serves as the nation's main referral hospital, offering comprehensive medical services to residents and visitors alike.

Established in 2009 as a modern replacement for the outdated Holberton Hospital, the facility was designed as a 185-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the Caribbean Medical Council Association (CAMC). It provides a full spectrum of primary and secondary care, including inpatient and outpatient services, emergency care, diagnostic imaging, surgical procedures, and specialized treatments in fields such as cardiology, urology, ophthalmology, and critical care. The hospital features state-of-the-art infrastructure across multiple floors, with dedicated areas for surgery, diagnostics, and patient wards.

In May 2021, the institution was officially renamed Sir Lester Bird Mount St. John's Medical Centre in honor of Antigua and Barbuda's second prime minister and national hero, Sir Lester Bird, during a historic ceremony. It is commonly referred to as Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre today. As a key pillar of the country's healthcare system, the centre emphasizes community wellness, advanced medical education, and accessible care, while continuing to evolve with modern facilities and services.
